Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to show Mum just how much we appreciate her.  With Sunday 10th May just around the corner, we’ve rounded up some simple crafts ideas that will make perfect DIY gifts for Mum. Pair these handmade goodies with takeaway/food delivery from her favourite restaurant or a gift card to her favourite store and you’re sure to impress!  Let’s get crafting!

Polymer Clay Jewellery or Key Chain

What you’ll need:

  1. Before you start working with the clay, it helps to come up with a colour palette.
  2. Preheat your oven to 100ºC and lining a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Start creating your clay shapes and design.
  4. This would be the time to create the holes needed. To do that, take a pin or something straight and sharp and use the sharp end to gently create holes at the top of each shape (and the bottom if applicable).
  5. Place designs on a baking sheet and bake for approximately 12-15 minutes.
  6. Add your Jewellery accessory for your choice of art. Click here to download instruction sheet.

Mother's Day Coupons

These coupons are fun, easy and a failsafe way to make your Mum feel appreciated. These little coupons can be given to your Mum to ‘redeem’ when she needs a little break. Some great examples are: breakfast in bed, one free dinner, one kitchen clean-up, or one dog walk. Get creative and brainstorm things your Mum deserves a break from! Another option is to print off coupon templates to write on, and you can find those here.

What you’ll need:

Fold paper in three equal sections, and then fold paper in half. Cut paper into six equal sections

  1. Write what Mum gets to redeem. Example: Kitchen Clean-up.
  2. Colour your coupon and add fun unique touches.

Pop up Tulip Card

This handmade card is super cute and so easy! No template needed and won't require many materials. PLUS if you have scrap paper, you can make this an up-cycled card! Your Mum will be wowed with how well this 3D card will turn out, and your special message to her will make her day! You can find the full tutorial here.

What you’ll need:

  1. Trace 2 heart shapes on paper (one bigger than the other) and cut them out
  2. Glue the smaller heart inside the larger heart (ensure one of the hearts is coloured in or done with coloured construction paper).
  3. Cut out leaf shapes and a stem on green paper (or colour the paper green).
  4. Glue this to the bottom of the smaller heart in the middle, and glue leaves onto the stems.
  5. Fold your creation in half.
  6. Trace tulip shapes on paper. The more shapes the better, you can either use the same colour or make them multi-colour.
  7. Cut your flowers out and fold them in half. Glue the halves one on top of the other. Once they are all together, glue the end of one half to the inside of your heart (on top of your stem) and then glue the other side down as well.
  8. Close card to set the glue.
