Christmas 2023 Campaign
at Forest Hill Chase
The Christmas season is well and truly underway at Forest Hill Chase, with the successful Santa’s Arrival celebration, A Christmas Sparkle initiative and ‘Shop and Play’ that drove traffic and sales during the Black Friday week period.
As shared in November’s edition, there are several exciting in-centre events that are taking place during December and into January as we plan for the new year.
Christmas Gift Guide
To support traffic and sales through the December gifting period, we are creating a series of themed gift guides that will be posted on our social media channels.
The content will feature an influencer who will be visiting selected stores and talking to a range of products to inspire customers to visit and do their shopping at Forest Hill Chase. The Christmas themes include:
- Secret Santa ideas
- Make their Christmas special
- Christmas Day outfits for the family
- Elevate your festive tableware
To support the centre’s extended trade period, from Monday 18 – Friday 22 December we are hosting a ‘Spin to Win’ promotion to incentivise customers to do their shopping later in the evening.
Customers can try their luck at the spinning wheel each day with daily prizes to be won such as Hoyts’s movie vouchers, free games of bowling at Zone Bowling, coffee vouchers and more!
Date: Monday 18 December – Friday 22 December
Time: Monday – Wednesday 5pm – 7pm | Thursday – Friday 5pm – 9pm
Location: Level 2 near Pandora
To further promote the activity beyond our owned channels, we will be utilising digital outdoor media. There will be five 7-Eleven stores within the trade area that will be broadcasting the promotion throughout the period. We are excited to try this new advertising platform and raise awareness of FHC amongst the local community giving them more reasons to shop with us.
Santa’s Arrival Wrap Up
On Saturday 18 November, Forest Hill Chase celebrated Santa’s Arrival in centre, accompanied by beloved characters such as Poppy & Branch from Trolls, Mrs. Claus, Rudolph, Frosty, and a host of musical performers.
The festivities continued well beyond the parade, with roaming characters, entertainers and a balloon artist and face painter in centre until 4pm.
We received lots of positive feedback from customers and retailers with many commenting that it felt very festive, with a great atmosphere and buzz in centre whilst remaining busy throughout the morning and afternoon. The centre benefited from an increase in traffic, particularly on Level 2 with positive growth seen throughout each level.
Shop and Play Black Friday Promotion
On Friday 24 November we launched ‘Shop and Play’, a promotion to support retailers during the Black Friday frenzy. Customers who spent $50 at one store were able to redeem an Entertainment Pass valued at $48 from selected stores in the Level 3 Dining & Entertainment precinct.
There were only 1,000 passes available and by Tuesday 28 November all were exhausted. This is one of the most successful promotions we’ve implemented to date which has driven repeat visitation and additional spend during the period.
Based on customer feedback, the promotion was attractive and ensured that Forest Hill Chase was their shopping destination over the Black Friday week sales. We also received feedback from customers that the centre provided a more convenient shopping experience than our competitors.
- Average spend per customer was $116.
- 28% of customers redeemed more than once with the campaign encouraging repeat visitation
- 34% of customers who participated live within the primary trade area, 29% of customers within the secondary, 20% within the tertiary trade area which shows customers were willing to bypass our competitors to participate in the campaign.
- Over 25% of redemptions did their spending at speciality retailers taking advantage of the Black Friday offers.
Kids Christmas Cookie Decorating with The Nutrition Guy
After a successful Tiny Chefs in the Kitchen cooking workshops in August, The Nutrition Guy, Joel Feren returned on Saturday 9 & 10 December to host kid’s Christmas cookie decorating workshops on Level 2 near TerryWhite Chemmart.
Kids were invited to a cooking class with Joel to make Santa’s favourite cookie, with kids thoroughly enjoying the cookie creation process plus, cookie decorating, which added to the experience.
The workshops were very popular with all available sessions booked out within days of promoting on our owned channels.
